Kongakut River

(Contact us for 2026 and 2027 Trips)

The Kongakut is a 10-day paddle trip and hiking adventure on one of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge's premier rivers. Never-ending daylight, birds, wildflowers, wildlife, breathtaking scenery, and the opportunity to see the Porcupine caribou herd's summer migration, makes this a Brooks Range river trip beyond compare. Paddling on the 60-mile float is easy to moderate with some Class III rapids and hiking on the arctic tundra is moderate to challenging. No prior experience is necessary. Trip begins and ends in Fairbanks, AK.
