Grand Canyon and Yoga

Join Sundog and company on the Colorado River in 2019 for a trip-of-a-lifetime through the Grand Canyon. This dory trip will be conducted through Tour West.

Experience the Colorado, our nation’s most famous whitewater river, in a brand new way. We are excited to announce that we are offering a special Grand Canyon yoga trip in September 2019. This trip offers all the great aspects of our Grand Canyon expedition and then some, incorporating yoga practice into our schedule. Classes will focus on the development and perfection of basic skills, but there will also be the opportunity for challenge with more advanced practice. Our guest teachers are registered yoga instructors and will co-lead yoga classes spread throughout our 18-day trip. There will still be plenty of time for hikes, relaxation, meditation, and general enjoyment of the Canyon as with our standard trips. We invite lifelong yoga enthusiasts and beginners alike who are excited about participating in a variety of classes taught in beautiful locations. This trip is open to all yoga skill levels and of course, each class offered is optional.

Helen Westbrook

After not really doing much of any exercise all through her childhood, Helen started doing yoga in her late teens because she read in some beauty magazine that it would make her taller. Well, it didn't. After deciding that she wanted to share yoga with others, Helen received her RYT-200 under the tutelage of Neesha Zollinger (E-RYT-500, Certified Anusara Instructor) and Nancy Burtenshaw (E-RYT-500, Anusara Inspired Instructor) in July of 2016. She has been teaching ever since! In Helen's classes, expect to find more advanced poses such as deep backbends, soaring arm balances, and challenging standing poses incorporated into flow sequences, often working in a ladder flow style.Modifications are always provided to help students find their fullest expression of the pose and sink deep into the wisdom of the body. When she isn't doing yoga, teaching yoga, or dreaming of yoga, Helen enjoys growing vegetables, knitting, hiking, and playing with her pugs. http://www.kulayogaandtea.com/helen-westbrook.html
